Care
How teak weathers
Left untreated, teak will gradually change from a warm honey tone to a beautiful silvery-grey patina.
This process does not affect the strength or durability of the wood.
Care & maintenance tips
Washing: Simply rinse with fresh water after use at sea to remove salt, and clean occasionally with a soft brush and mild soap solution.
Avoid harsh cleaners: These can strip the wood of its natural oils and damage the grain.
Stains & spills: Wipe up promptly with fresh water. For tougher marks, lightly sand in the direction of the grain.
Cushion storage: As teak is untreated, we recommend stowing cushions when underway or during heavy weather.
Optional treatments
If you prefer to maintain the golden colour, apply a specialist teak sealer or protector (not oil). This should be reapplied every 6–12 months depending on conditions.
We do not recommend varnish or paint, as these can crack and peel in a marine environment.
By allowing teak to breathe and weather naturally, you’ll enjoy timeless, low-maintenance furniture that becomes part of your yacht’s character.
